What You’ll Be Doing as a CNC Machine Operator:
- Operate and manage CNC machines (lathes, mills) to produce precision components according to engineering specifications.
- Interpret and accurately apply work orders and engineering drawings to ensure part accuracy.
- Set up and verify tooling and fixtures, ensuring they align with CNC programs and shop documents.
- Conduct thorough quality checks on machined parts using measuring tools and techniques.
- Maintain detailed production records and utilize the ERP system for tracking work orders and data.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Proactively identify and report any quality or equipment issues to the CNC Lathe or Mill Lead.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
Skills and Experience You’ll Need as a CNC Machine Operator:
For Entry-Level:
- Basic experience operating CNC machines (lathes, mills) in a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in using common measuring tools (calipers, micrometers).
- Basic understanding of CNC machine setup procedures.
- Ability to perform routine machine maintenance tasks.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Knowledge of and adherence to basic safety procedures.
- Ability to independently perform daily machine checks.
For Advanced-Level:
- Proven experience (5+ years) operating complex CNC machines (lathes, mills) with tight tolerances.
- Strong ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools and quality control equipment (CMM).
- Solid understanding of CNC programming (G-code) and machine setup procedures.
- Familiarity with ERP systems for data entry and work order tracking.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex machine issues and perform advanced maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and mentor less experienced operators.
- Ability to independently adjust tool offsets to maintain tight tolerances and optimize production.
